About Me
I have been a Certified Athletic Therapist in the Calgary area for 11 years, and started Slate Athletic Therapy in 2021 to serve the Town of Crossfield where I reside with my family and nearby rural communities. I am very passionate about improving accessibility to quality healthcare services in rural communities, and I am so proud of the work I have been able to do through Slate.
I work with the patient as a unique individual to identify and treat the source of the problem, and I prefer blending manual, hands-on techniques with exercise programs to restore patient wellness. I believe in spending time with my patients, and that healing happens in unrushed and comfortable settings. This is important for me to understand your experience, for you to understand your pathway to recovering, and for us to find effective and meaningful therapeutic strategies that you are satisfied with. I strongly appreciate the benefits of a multidisciplinary approach, and I support collaboration and cooperation within a healthcare team.
I have done additional coursework in CranioSacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, Somatic Inquiry, and completed my Yoga Teacher Training to complement my practice.
After the birth of my children, I developed a special interest in working with other moms experiencing pregnancy related conditions and recovering from childbirth. I’ve done continuing education in postpartum rehabilitation, pelvic health and dysfunction, diastasis recti management, core recovery, and caesarean birth healing. I believe passionately in supporting and caring for new moms, and providing treatment options to help moms heal and restore wellness in their postpartum days, weeks, and years.
Outside of work, I love my kids, yoga, gardening, learning new things, trashy tv, and getting outdoors. You will rarely see me without a kid or two in tow, and I spend most of my time enjoying the family scene.
